Four mystical worriers battled evil spirits know as Aurgs. These worriers were the Gao Rangers and had the power of an ancient civliaztion ( In the form of animal spirites). A fith worrer was chosen b ythe Lion Power Animal to lead the team. He was a vetinerian who beleived he could reason with the Aurgs. When he realized that was impossible he became dedicated to defeating them. Gao Yellow had been temproary leader of the team and resisted Gao Red's presense at first. He soon accepted Gao Red after the new leader saved him from a Camera Aurg.

The Gao Rangers used several Power Animals that could form powerful mechas. There were three Aurg leaders that appeared during the course of the series. Each was defeated by the Gao Rangers separatly.

A Duke Aurg known as Loki served under the second Aurg leader.  He was a wold like Org that had Power Animals of his own to control. He ended up being an ancient worrier from the orginal battle against the Aurgs. He put om the Mask of Loki to defeat the Aurg's but was cursed to become Loki. He was imprisoned by the other worriers so he could do no harm. This lost worrier was freed from his curse and became a Gao Ranger. He was once in love with the  mentor's Grandmother. He was forced to defeat the second aurg leader ( who had become a new Loki).

The Gao Rangers were able to dfefeat a combination of the three Aurg leaders and defeat the Aurgs for the time being.  Their mentor took
their powers and the Power Animals back into the sky.  The Gaorangers went on to live normal lives.
